In the latest edition of Athene, the magazine for members of Foreningen For Brystkreftopererte (the association for women who've had breast cancer surgery), there was a story about a woman working with breast cancer sufferers among Peru's poor women. Women in Norway was encouraged to send her (via FFB) mastectomy bras , prosthesises and wigs that they no longer use. Now, I can personally testify to feeling the need to BURN all of those things the minute the hair starts growing back or after having had a reconstruction. However, after my surgery, I kept the newest and least used bras just for the purpose of giving them away to someone who would need them. This is the perfect occasion! So all bras were washed and then shipped off to FFB today.
